Consumers have higher and higher requirements for logistics timeliness, which is worthy of the seller’s attention

For many years, retailers and logistics providers in the supply chain have been trying to meet the soaring demand for door-to-door service. However, recently, a survey by lasership, a regional e-commerce package operator, showed that online consumers prefer to pay for faster logistics services.

Lasership commissioned Hanover research to survey more than 3000 consumers to understand how their shopping behavior and preferences have evolved since the beginning of the epidemic.

According to lasership, nearly 60% of the shoppers surveyed had paid for faster logistics services, of which 69% paid more for next day services. This partly reflects the impact of the epidemic on shopping behavior. In the survey in June 2020, 62% of respondents said they had never paid for expedited delivery.

Logistics prescription

Lasership’s survey results also show that consumers still overwhelmingly prefer door-to-door service rather than online purchase, in store pick-up (bopis) and other forms of shopping. 89% of consumers surveyed prefer door-to-door delivery rather than bopis, an increase of nearly 10% over 2020.

Moreover, these consumers said that they prefer retailers that can provide door-to-door service when shopping online.

Lasership said that slow logistics will seriously affect retailers’ online business. 73% of consumers regard fast delivery as a key standard for online shopping, an increase of 16% over 2020.

Consumers prefer retailers that can deliver goods quickly. In 2021 alone, 64% of consumers refused to try new retailers because of slow logistics, and 54% of consumers changed retailers.

In this regard, Josh Dinneen, chief commercial officer of lasership, said that the epidemic has increased shoppers’ preference and dependence on free and fast door-to-door delivery services. Retailers should establish a flexible and flexible supply chain to meet consumers’ shopping expectations and respond to consumers’ changing shopping behavior, so as to attract more customers and improve users’ loyalty to the brand.
