International express is not like domestic express, distance, time, requirements and many other are different. Many friends who send international express for the first time will wonder why it is so expensive? How to calculate the international express freight? How can I save money on shipping? Let’s talk about these issues today.
Before we talk about how to calculate shipping costs, let’s introduce a few concepts.
Weight type
General express billing is measured by weight, in the international logistics industry, there are actual weight, volume weight, billing weight three.
Actual Weight: referred to as actual Weight, A-W or AW, is the actual weight, generally refers to the actual Gross weight (Gross Weight), that is, the weight of the goods themselves, plus the weight of the packaging materials used in the item.
Volumetric Weight: When the volume of the cargo is large and the actual weight is light, the volume of the goods can be loaded due to the carrying capacity of the transport vehicle.
The volume of the shipment calculated according to a certain conversion factor is the volume weight. A shipment whose volume weight is greater than its actual weight is often called a light throw.
Chargeable Weight: As the name suggests, it is used to calculate the weight of the freight, in general, the chargeable weight is to take the actual weight and volume weight of the larger party.
Of course, the real weight and the bubble are not in line with this.
Send international express
Chargeable weight unit
In international express delivery, packages with a billing weight of less than 21kg are international small packages, and each 500g (0.5kg) is the billing unit.
Packages with a billing weight of more than 21kg(inclusive) are international large packages, and the billing unit is per kilogram.
First weight and second weight
The first weight and continuous weight of international packages are actually the same as domestic express delivery, the first weight refers to a billing weight of the goods, that is, the first kilogram, and the continuous weight refers to each billing weight behind, that is, each kilogram after removing the first weight.
Send international express 10KG, the first weight is 1KG, followed by 1KG, the billing method is the first weight cost + continued weight cost: 1 first weight +9 continued weight.
However, please note that depending on the weight of the goods and the company, the first and second weights may be charged at 0.5 kg or other forms.
Packing charge
In general, express companies are free to provide customers with packaging materials for free packaging, such as cartons, bubbles and so on. However, some valuable and fragile items, in order to ensure the safety of express delivery, express companies will carry out some targeted packaging.
Such as custom wooden boxes, this time the Courier company will charge a certain packaging fee. (Note that packaging charges are not included in the discount range)
Remote cost
The remoteness surcharge is a frequent charge for international express deliveries, which can be incurred when a package is sent in a remote area.
Why this cost? Because the normal freight calculation is only the freight cost to the main city.
A surcharge on top of freight charges imposed by the delivery service provider to cover the additional costs of delivery in remote areas, where the timeliness of delivery may be affected to varying degrees, including in remote island countries.
Customs declaration fee
International express, normal do not need to separate customs declaration, international express will be centralized customs declaration, if you need to export tax rebates can pay customs declaration, is the need for customs declaration fees, normal mail a package without customs declaration fees, freight included.
International express general freight calculation formula
(1) Actual heavy cargo: the actual weight is greater than the volume weight
When the goods to be delivered are heavier than the volume, the freight calculation method is: first weight freight +(weight (kg)×2-1)× continued weight freight
For example: 7KG goods according to the first weight of 20 yuan, continued weight of 9 yuan, the total freight is: 20+(7×2-1)*9=137 (yuan)
