A China lithium battery LCL forwarder is not a truck that happens to know the word IMDG. The product is a file: email one, acceptance, isolation, CFS receiving, carrier yes, stuffing, sailing. Xinhan Logistics works that file for Class 9 lots that can share a master box and refuses the lots that cannot. This is how the desk runs a lithium LCL booking in 2026.
Send packed CBM, gross weight, UN number, battery type, origin city, and delivery city if you want a quotation that can be executed. Planning bands below are ranges, not today’s live print.
1. Restate the LCL DG desk in operational English
LCL means your cargo shares a container. DG LCL means it shares only under a consolidator program that has isolation, trained handlers, and a carrier that accepted the UN. The desk is the person who will not let a general-cargo closing swallow a UN3480 carton because the cube looked cute.
Port delivery, destination CFS, and DDP to a warehouse are three products. The LCL master box is a means. Name the end. Then let the file choose the means.
2. Email one is the file, not a teaser
Email one is the booking draft. Voice note seven is how UN numbers arrive after the truck is already at the wrong gate. If the first message is “battery sample, how much per CBM,” the honest reply is a list of facts, not a decorative rate.
Xinhan Logistics will answer a complete first email with a mode, a planning window, and the next document ask. Incomplete first emails get questions. That is how Class 9 stays legal.
3. What belongs on email one
Write the cargo as a handler will see it, not as a marketplace title. Attach what you have. Do not wait for the factory to “find the PDF later” if it is already in the chat.
- Product name, chemistry, and whether you have cells, packs, or equipment.
- UN number: UN3480, UN3481, UN3090, or UN3091, stated, not guessed.
- Packed with equipment, contained in equipment, or standalone.
- Watt-hour rating or lithium-metal content, and carton-level quantity.
- Packed dimensions, carton count, gross weight, CBM.
- Origin city in China and the factory’s packed-ready date.
- Delivery city and the named place: CFS, CY, or a warehouse door.
- UN38.3 summary and SDS/MSDS if they exist on day one.
If you do not know the UN, say so. Guessing UN3481 because the gadget has a battery is how you stuff the wrong label and fail receiving.
4. How Xinhan Logistics reads UN number and battery type
The UN number picks the proper shipping name and the packing conversation. Battery type picks the hazards the CFS will actually handle. Lithium-ion and lithium-metal are not interchangeable. A power bank is not a description. A scooter with a battery installed is not “spare parts.” A carton of loose cells is not “electronic components.”
We match invoice language to UN38.3 model IDs. Mismatch is a stop. Hidden DG inside a general LCL booking is a fine and a rolled relationship with the consolidator. Declare on email one.
5. Carrier acceptance is a decision, not a hope
The consolidator asks a carrier, or uses a carrier program already in place. The answers are yes, no, or later. Later means the DG officer is out, the sailing is full of DG, or the paper is short. Later is not a booking. Do not truck to CFS on later.
Line policies change. A UN that moved last month can be closed this week. A written no on Monday is cheaper than a physical reject on Thursday with storage already ticking.
6. Isolation is a CFS layout, not a slogan
Isolation is floor space, cage rules, and a stuffing plan that keeps your Class 9 out of a general mix that IMDG will not allow. It is also why DG LCL costs more than ordinary LCL on the same cube. You are buying a slot in a program, not a gap between sofas.
- Ask which shed will receive. General sheds are not Class 9 sheds.
- Ask whether your UN can share the master with other shippers’ UN entries.
- Ask what happens if the isolation slot is full: wait, FCL, or roll.
If the operator cannot name the shed, you do not have isolation. You have a brochure.
7. How a DG LCL booking is actually built
The desk does not “book space” and then discover batteries. The sequence is classification, paper, acceptance, closing, truck, receive, stuff. Cutoff for DG is earlier than the ordinary LCL cutoff on a general-cargo rate sheet.
- File opened from email one. Gaps listed in one reply, not twelve.
- UN38.3, SDS, invoice, packing list checked against each other.
- Consolidator and carrier asked with that pack, not with a nickname.
- Closing offered with a receiving window. Inland truck booked to that window.
- CFS receive: weight, measure, labels, packing.
- Declaration finalized. Stuffing list locked. Export customs. VGM. Gate-in.
Anything that skips receiving is a story you will tell the destination warehouse when the cargo is still in China.
8. Receiving at a Class 9 capable shed
CFS receiving is a gate with a tape measure and a label standard. Remeasure is not an insult. Inner-box cubes on email one become a debit at the door. Missing Class 9 labels become a reject. Terminal protection that failed in transit from the factory becomes a packing conversation, not a “handle with care” sticker argument.
Factory trucks that arrive without an appointment or booking number get to wait. Send the driver the CFS SOP with the pickup order.
9. Documents the consolidator will ask for before closing
UN38.3 test summary for the design type. SDS/MSDS. Commercial invoice. Packing list that matches the tape. Dangerous-goods declaration in the form the program uses. Packing specification evidence when the instruction requires UN-spec packaging. Destination filings get their DG data from this same truth.
A consolidator who stuffs without that stack is not doing you a favour. Xinhan Logistics would rather miss a closing than invent a declaration.
10. Packaging rejects that happen at the door, not at sea
Most lithium LCL failures never see a quay. They die at receiving. Terminals taped with ordinary tape. Cells rattling. Equipment switches not protected against activation. Overpacks with no overpack mark. Old air labels left on.
Pack to the instruction that matches the UN. Then pack to survive a restow. CFS is not a showroom. Cartons at the bottom of a cage live a different life than cartons in a factory photo.
11. LCL versus FCL as the operator sees the file
The desk picks LCL when the cube is small, the UN is accepted into the program, and isolation exists. The desk picks FCL when the cube wants a box, when the UN is boxed-only this week, or when mixing is a regulatory or commercial no. That is a file decision, not a personality test.
Around the volume where a box starts to compete, ask for both. A 2 CBM sample and a 24 CBM replenishment should not inherit each other’s mode out of habit. Damage, destuff time, and free time all change with the box.
12. Planning bands for time and handling
Sea LCL packed-to-port for accepted lithium lots often sits in a 3–7 week band depending on lane and DG closing. Origin dwell at a DG CFS is often several days after receiving, longer if labels fail. Air DG, when accepted, often sits in a 5–15 day band. DG adds document and surcharge time. None of these numbers is a named-vessel guarantee.
| File stage | Planning band | What the desk still needs from you |
|---|---|---|
| Email one to first carrier ask | Same day to a few days if the pack is complete | UN number, battery type, SDS, UN38.3, packed CBM and kg |
| CFS receive to DG closing | Often a few days to about a week and a half | Correct labels, packing, isolation slot, export docs |
| Packed cargo to destination port | Sea LCL often 3–7 weeks depending on lane | Lane, ready date, no last-minute UN changes |
| Air DG alternative when accepted | Often 5–15 days | Chargeable weight, SoC if required, airline yes |
| DDP after port | Destuff, entry, truck on top of the port clock | Named warehouse, tax treatment, DG receiving SOP |
Ask Xinhan Logistics to attach a target closing and sailing to the quote. A tattoo such as “about a month” is not a plan.
13. Cost stack the LCL DG quote must show
Ordinary LCL is CBM or revenue ton, origin handling, destination handling. Lithium LCL adds DG declaration, DG handling, isolation, possible inspection, and carrier DG surcharges. Inland truck to a DG shed can differ from truck to a general shed. FCL, when chosen, is a box plus DG, not a CBM fantasy.
We will not print a fake precise live CBM on this page and call it today’s market. Compare stacks. Do not compare a general-cargo friend’s cube to your UN3480 file. Minimums bite small samples. Measure packed cargo.
14. DDP versus CY or CFS destination on lithium LCL
CY or destination CFS delivery hands the buyer a Class 9 inbound. That can be correct if the buyer has a broker and a DG-capable dock. DDP keeps Xinhan Logistics on the entry and the truck to a named place, with duty treatment written in the quote. DDP still needs a receiver who can take batteries.
Fulfilment centres, residential doors, and ordinary commercial docks are not interchangeable. If the warehouse SOP bans lithium, DDP cannot repeal the SOP. Say the door type on email one.
15. Customs language that survives an exam
Handlers and customs officers both read the invoice. “Gadgets” is not a lithium description. Model numbers should match UN38.3. HS should match the product, equipment versus spare batteries included. Security filings want DG data that is true, not a copy-paste from a shirt shipment.
- One commercial story from export to import.
- Quantity in cells or packs that a count can verify.
- Licences complete before the DG closing, not after gate-in.
Exams add days. Answer the same day. Class 9 storage is not a place you want to get comfortable.
16. Transit clocks from packed cargo to destination shed
Clock one is origin: packed-ready, truck, receive, close, export. Clock two is water. Clock three is destination destuff and availability. Clock four is clearance and truck if you bought that. LCL adds shed time at both ends. Water days can look similar to FCL. The calendar often does not. Factory city is not port city. Name it on email one or the origin clock is fiction.
17. Origin geography: the CFS is a chosen gate
Xinhan Logistics routes battery LCL through sheds that can touch Class 9, fed by factories in and around Shenzhen, Guangzhou, Shanghai, Ningbo, Xiamen, Qingdao, and inland plants that truck to those gates. Sending cargo to the nearest ordinary LCL warehouse because it is close to the factory is how you buy a second truck. Inland transfer of DG is a booking, not a favour.
18. After yes: cutoffs, VGM, and sailing discipline
Acceptance is the start of a countdown. DG document cutoff is earlier. Cargo cutoff is earlier. VGM still must be true. Late cargo is not “put it on next week” by default; next week needs a new isolation slot and sometimes a new yes.
If the carrier rolls the master, the desk should tell you, rebook, and reset destination expectations. Build a buffer. Do not promise the left edge of a 3–7 week band to a retailer who prints launch ads.
19. Destination destuff and continuing isolation
The master box opens at destination CFS. Your cartons still wear Class 9 marks. Isolation can continue until release. A buyer who sends a general trucker with no DG instruction is building a refusal at the gate.
Count and photograph. The POD is the end of the LCL physical chain. Claims start from origin photos, receiving photos, and packing spec. The desk is not a witness who can invent a drop.
20. Common mistakes on the LCL DG file
Email one without a UN. UN38.3 for a retired model. SDS that describes a different chemistry. Cargo dispatched to a general shed. Labels applied after receiving failed. Inner-box CBM. Mixed damaged batteries with new stock. Changing delivery city after the security filing. Booking a DDP warehouse that cannot receive lithium. Treating a carrier later as a yes.
Each one is avoidable. Together they turn a planning band into a storage invoice. The desk will not silently repair a lie on the declaration.
21. How to choose a DG-capable LCL forwarder
Name the shed. Name the acceptance path. Show a document checklist that includes UN38.3 and SDS. Quote CBM plus DG handling, not a mystery headline. Explain LCL versus FCL as a file decision. Own exceptions: rejects, rolls, exams. Lowest cube with a blank DG cell is not a forwarder. It is a future problem with a phone number.
Xinhan Logistics expects that exam. Stay with the desk that passed it long enough for the SKU family to become boring.
22. When the file should leave LCL
Leave LCL when the consolidator says no. When volume pays for a box. When isolation cannot be scheduled inside the customer date. When the destination cannot destuff mixed DG in time. When air is the only clock that matches a stock-out and the airline says yes.
Do not force LCL because the first sample was LCL. Do not force FCL on a two-carton UN3481 device lot because a forum said batteries need a whole container. Ask the file.
23. Freeze the accepted pattern
After the first accepted sailing, freeze UN, model, carton spec, mark placement, invoice wording, and the shed path. The second booking should reuse email one as a template, not as a creative-writing task. If production changes a cell, reopen classification.
Record origin dwell, water days, destuff days, and exception reasons. That archive is part of what you buy.
