According to one shipping, citing the news of the Chinese journal of science: on July 12, the forecasting science research center of the Chinese Academy of Sciences released the “forecast report of the world’s Top20 container ports in 2022” (hereinafter referred to as the report), which predicted and analyzed the container throughput of the world’s Top20 ports in 2022 and its ranking.
The report predicts that in 2022, Shanghai port will rank first among the world’s Top20 container ports in terms of throughput. Most of the container ports in China showed a trend of increasing demand for transportation services, especially ningbo Zhoushan port, Qingdao port and Tianjin port. Nine of the world’s Top20 container ports will come from China, and the development of container transportation in China remains the center of gravity and foundation for the stable development of the world.
With the acceleration of economic globalization, as an important node of global comprehensive transportation network and an important link of international logistics chain, the key role and important status of ports are increasingly prominent. As the carrier of the world economy and trade, container transportation is not only an important guarantee for the development of the world economy and the growth of international trade, but also involves the interests of many enterprises and the economic lifeline of relevant countries.
Therefore, the scientific prediction of the container volume of the world’s ports can provide decision-making support for port management, planning and construction, and promote the economic development of the cities and countries where the ports are located, which has important strategic significance.
Xie Gang, a professor at the Predictive Science Research Center of the Chinese Academy of Sciences, said that in 2022, due to the impact of COVID-19, anti-globalization measures in developed economies and the russia-Ukraine conflict, the global economy will face considerable downward pressure, and the container shipping industry will see a slowdown. Overall, China still accounts for nearly half of the world’s top 20 container ports, and seven of the top 10 are from China. The growth rate of container throughput at Chinese ports will be lower than in 2021.
