Hong Kong International Air Transport Airport to Build Multi Link Services for United Nations Thai Cargo

Cathay Pacific Freight Station has expanded its multimodal cargo handling business between Hong Kong International Airport and Dongguan Logistics Park to include northbound services. This expansion means that freight agents using Cathay Pacific freight stations can now air freight goods to Hong Kong, then ship them from the airport to Dongguan, and then distribute them in the Greater Bay Area (GBA) of China. The operator said that this is the first terminal operator at the airport to provide northbound services.”We are now providing customers with a stable multimodal transportation solution to handle imports in the Greater Bay Area,” said the handler.Hong Kong International Air Transport Airport”Emergency cargo can be directly towed from the airside of Hong Kong International Airport to ships heading towards Dongguan (or further), while cargo can be transported using airlines’ Unit Load Devices (ULDs) without the need for reassembly, further improving efficiency.”On December 4th, the agency company Dimerco became the first company to transport commercial goods northward.Cathay Pacific Cargo Terminal added, “We will work closely with the Hong Kong Airport Authority and Customs to continuously simplify the operational processes of southbound and northbound routes, further consolidating Hong Kong’s position as a leading global air cargo logistics hub.”The pilot intermodal service connecting Dongguan logistics park and airport was first launched in April this year, which is expected to save time and costs compared to using road transportation.Goods safety inspections, palletizing, and airline acceptance can all be carried out in the logistics park, which means that goods can be directly loaded from the ship onto the aircraft.Hong Kong International Airport stated that the transfer arrangement is expected to save 50% of the cost and one-third of the processing time for exported goods.
